Week 2: Business Research

 1. Urbn/Water Supply Co.

https://urbnwaterco.com/

Urbn Water is an alkaline water company based out of Oceanside Ca. They are a small team with a large following of supporters. On their website, it is very simple to maneuver your way around with easy access to its social media links. They are on Facebook and Instagram.
Their last post on Instagram was January 11, 2021; with a 33.6k following.
On Facebook, last post was August 14, 2020 with a following of 72 people; which is also their current number of followers to date.
This company has a an active Instagram account from athletes, artists and creatives they sponsor, who also tag their products (water and merchandise) through the app. The use of Instagram gives them an upper hand with having "influencers" tag and promote their water and merchandise for their followers to see. Facebook is not active, maybe because of the lack of followers or "influencers" who use the app. Although, Facebook is very informative site for its users to explore more about this company.

2. Rebel8 Clothing Company
https://rebel8.com/

Rebel 8 is a clothing company based out of San Francisco Ca. Their warehouse is located in SF, and also ship merchandise nationwide and internationally. The brand expresses the tattoo and skateboard culture in their merchandise with a memorable logo, vulgarity and street inspired art.
This company uses Instagram, Facebook, Twitter and YouTube for social media platforms.
Instagram: 227k followers;last post was February 10,2020.
Facebook: 303k followers;last post was February 10,2020.
Twitter: 45.2k followers;last post was February 10,2020.
YouTube: 1.66k subscribers;last post was December 2019.
I like the consistency of this company with its social media platforms. They update all social media platforms everyday regardless if it is the same post for all or not. The website is also entertaining and there is plenty of links to go shuffle through such as art, culture, music and videos. It is certainly a lifestyle based community that makes you feel part of their culture not only through their merchandise but also their use of social media, actively.

3. Emanon Clothing
https://emanonclothing.com/

Emanon is a clothing company based out of Oceanside Ca. This is a company that was actually discussed by a group of friends I had the pleasure serving at my job one night. With a team of 3, I believe, they illuminate a culture of unity, art and music. Facebook, Instagram, YouTube and Twitter are the social media applications they utilize into displaying their company's vision.
Facebook: 485 followers;last post January 2018.
Instagram: there was a link but no page for it.
Twitter: 190 followers; last post February 2020.
YouTube: 30 subscribers;last post was February 2019.
One of the reasons I find this company an upcoming fresh label is that they are doing everything right. I got a face to face explanation from the creators, reason on how I discovered the brand, got to know their mission and vision statement; that alone speaks volumes unto why they created the brand. For clothing brands, making your mark is always the hard part. What sets you apart from others? What type of merchandise is available? What is the quality of merchandise? etc. The harder they work on updating their followers with more content, the more successful they can be with establishing themselves more locally, then eventually, nation wide.

4. Ramirez Wholesale Flowers
https://www.ramirezflowersinc.com/

Ramirez Wholesale Flowers is a flower vendor based out of Carlsbad Ca. who also service all throughout San Diego. Fortunately, I have done business with this company for my casual floral business. Two brothers with a small team of employees in their warehouse located in Carlsbad, they put on beautiful flowers for wholesale, opened to the public and businesses. The company uses Instagram and Facebook for social media accounts.
Instagram: 5,181 followers;last post was February 2020.
Facebook: 320 followers;last post was February 2020.
This small business take full advantage of Instagram in marketing its products, I have seen this first hand both in person and on social media. My partner and I have posted and tagged flowers we have used by them, as well as other florists who have a high following presence on Instagram. They are also consistent identical posting for both of their social media accounts for relevancy and updates in what's going on in their business.

5.  Friends and Fam Floral
https://www.instagram.com/friendsandfamfloral/

This is a floral business a cousin of mine and I are starting up. We are currently in the process of getting all of our legal forms filled out and a business website done as well. We currently only have one social media account, Instagram (link provided), and we do our best to update every time we have a order out or event we are working. We started this last year and are still in the beginning stages of getting everything set in place, exciting and scary but will be worth it in the end.
We are always humbled by the comments we receive from our customers and also advice we get from our competitors. It is a great community to be in especially when you are surrounded by confident entrepreneurs and people who respect your craft. Please check us out at the link above.

After researching social media platforms of the businesses stated above I can conclude that social media plays a huge part to a company´s success. One of the things that stuck out for me is how consistency of social media usage can impact the the drive and engagement with consumers and other businesses. The more a platform is used the more engagement a business can gain from it. This engagement helps businesses forecast what consumers are looking at, what they like and what works best for means of communication between consumer and business (product/service reviews).

With my own business, we only conduct business through Instagram and e-mail(Gmail). We are home florist who operate out of our homes, so the need for website is unnecessary at the moment but will be ideal and practical for the future when we grow. We engage with our customers everyday through comments and messages through Instagram about any inquiries on certain styles, designs, etc. Instagram makes the communication process easier for us to build relationships with our current clients and reel in potential ones for company productivity.

Lastly, there were certain businesses stated above that use more of one platform over the other. Facebook is used more due to a company´s target demographic (age, race, location) rather than Instagram. Although one social media may be used more than the other, it is good to have multiple outlets for communication usage if consumers only use one social platform over the other. Options like social media platforms help consumers choose what outlet to use if reviews are to be made for a business. I like this idea of having more than one social media platform because it allows a business to be more flexible in terms of communicating with consumers or other company´s if they use one platform over the other. Consumers love options and it definitely helps a company relate and cater to any concerns or compliments from customers.

I hope you this read on my business research on company´s that I catch my interest and gave you incite on my thoughts on communication between business and consumer.

Week 2: Communication Business and Consumer.

In the past, I have utilized the Yelp app to review different restaurants, bars, parks, museums, etc. By doing so, this helps businesses and individuals see real life reviews from locals or travelers who visit or have purchased services that become helpful to the public. Before Yelp, reviews were only available on company websites in regards to a particular product or service; this makes it harder to believe since websites only post the positive reviews of products and services for marketing purposes. Yelp is not the only app that shows positive and negative reviews, there is a sense of community with your followers and recommendations on social media platforms.       Facebook has become my go to source for any local creators to collaborate with, finding the best tacos in town, searching for the best hikes, looking for a mechanic, etc. The resourceful feature like Marketplace is used a resource for selling and buying products, a...
